ABAN24 - Iraq’s top Shia cleric Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani has responded to a question about this year’s Hajj amid the ongoing US-Israeli acts of aggression in the region. .

According to Shafaqna, a believer asked the source of emulation, “I am going to perform Hajj this year (2026). Is it obligatory to go to Hajj due to the conditions of war and the difficulty of the route by land? Or can I stay and go in favorable conditions?”

The senior cleric answered, “In the name of Allah. Anyone who has fear of unusual harm due to going to Hajj by land, or who suffers severe hardship (hardship and difficulty that are usually unbearable) due to the severe worry and anxiety that befalls him, the obligation to go to Hajj this year is waived.”

Hajj is a pilgrimage to Mecca that every able-bodied and financially able Muslim is obliged to undertake at least once during their lifetime.

This year’s Hajj season is nearing as the US-Israeli war of aggression on Iran that began on February 28 has plunged the region into a severe crisis.
