The U.S. government had previously, after the arrest of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, stolen tens of millions of barrels of that country’s oil. Trump speaks of opening the Strait of Hormuz, while experts have repeatedly emphasized that, without Iran's consent and an end to the hostilities, the safe passage of ships through this waterway will not be possible
