ABNA24 - The spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Esmaeil Baghaei, calls the “innocent kids and their teachers who were slaughtered in cold blood” in Iran’s Minab the symbol of “barbarity and brutality” of the US and Israeli terrorist regimes.
“Today, the Human Rights Council holds an urgent debate on the US wanton attack on Shajareh Tayyebe Elementary School in the City of Monab, on 28 February 2026. It was a deliberate, phased assault by two Tomahawk missiles in order to claim more innocent lives,” Baqaei wrote in a message on the X account on Friday, referring to the emergency meeting of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva, Switzerland, regarding the crime committed by the United States in the attack on the Shajareh Tayyebeh school in Minab, southern Iran, on February 28, in which at least 170 students and school staff were massacred on February 28.
“The world must stand up to this grave breach of international law, including human rights and humanitarian law, as this is merely one, among many, examples of American-Israeli war crimes & crimes against humanity committed during the past 28 days of their illegal war against Iran,” he wrote.
“Those innocent kids and their teachers who were slaughtered in cold blood symbolise the barbarity and brutality of the invaders. They must be held accountable for their egregious rights abuses & genocidal war crimes.”
In an emergency session of the UN Human Rights Council held in Geneva on Friday at the request of Iran, China, and Cuba, the international body called for an immediate investigation and accountability for the perpetrators of the incident.
In the meeting senior Iranian and international officials, including Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk, UN Special Rapporteur on Education Farida Shahid, and one of the victims’ mothers, delivered speeches.
