AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): The Congress party has accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of showing “moral cowardice” in the context of criticism surrounding Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, ahead of Modi’s visit to Israel.
Before Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s trip to Israel, the Congress on Wednesday alleged that at a time when the entire world is criticizing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Modi is about to display “moral cowardice” by going there.
Prime Minister Modi departed on Wednesday for a two-day visit to Israel, where he is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and address the Israeli Parliament, the Knesset.

He added: That was a different era. Now the Indian Prime Minister is brazenly embracing the Prime Minister of Israel, who has reduced Gaza to rubble and dust and who is orchestrating the expansion of illegal settlements in the occupied West Bank. When the entire world is critical of his ‘dear friend’ Mr. Netanyahu, Mr. Modi will be displaying moral cowardice.

Yet the Prime Minister is going to Israel tomorrow (where there is a Modani connection as well) to embrace his good friend Mr. Netanyahu - who faces very serious corruption charges. The Opposition in Israel is threatening to boycott Mr. Modi’s address to the Israeli Parliament to protest how Mr. Netanyahu is destroying the independence of the judiciary in Israel.
The Modi Govt makes cynical and hypocritical statements on its commitment to the cause of the Palestinians. The reality is the Modi Govt has abandoned them, forgetting that India was amongst the earliest countries to recognise the state of Palestine way back on Nov 18, 1988.
