AhlulBayt News Agency: An exhibition of artworks produced by artists from several countries has been launched at the holy shrine of Imam Ali (AS) in Najaf, Iraq.
Organized by the Astan (custodianship) of the holy shrine, the “Art of Awaiting (Savior)” exhibition is the first of its kind in Iraq.
The participating artists have exhibited more than a hundred paintings inspired by the concept of Intizar (awaiting the Savior) and its spiritual and human manifestations.
Khadim Jafar al-Badiri, the executive director of the program, said nearly 100 diverse artworks, including paintings, decorations, engravings, digital designs, manuscripts and sculptures, have been displayed in the exhibition.
These works will also be displayed in an exhibition in the Hazrat Zahra (SA) courtyard during the holy month of Ramadan, he noted.
Mustafa Adel, public relations manager of the Qaf Art and Media Foundation, stated that the exhibited works are diverse in terms of themes and styles.
The artists were inspired by Quranic verses and Hadiths related to Imam Mahdi (may God hasten his glad advent) as well as supplications, including the Nudba Supplication, he said, adding that they were also inspired by the art and decorations of the holy shrine, which are rooted in Islamic culture, and this gave the works a spiritual and religious atmosphere.
The exhibition has provided an opportunity to get acquainted with the culture of Ahl-ul-Bayt (AS), the philosophy of awaiting the Savior, and the concept of the awaited Savior that people yearn for, he stated.
“This is what the artists depicted in their works, and each painting carries a story and message that reflects the identity and experience of the artist.”
The exhibition, with diverse artistic and cultural participation from countries such as India, China, Malaysia, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Iran, Brazil, Uzbekistan, Oman, Syria, Lebanon, and Iraq, demonstrates the ability of visual art to build bridges between nations and strengthen common values.
