AhlulBayt News Agency: Muslims in Malaysian state of Sabah have been encouraged to consistently uphold and internalize the teachings of the Quran as the foundation for building a progressive, prosperous, and harmonious society.
Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor said the State‑level Quran Recitation and Memorisation Assembly is one of the government’s strategic efforts to inspire Muslims to appreciate and elevate the Quran.
The ceremony was officiated by Sabah Governor Tun Musa Aman.
Hajiji noted that the continued organization of this annual religious event reflects the government’s commitment to ensuring that spiritual and physical development progress together, creating balance between worldly and spiritual needs. He added that the assembly helps nurture Qari, Qariah, Hafiz, and Hafizah who excel in recitation and memorisation and serve as role models. He reaffirmed the government’s support for Islamic education, tahfiz institutions, and programs that strengthen Islamic values.
He also highlighted that the State Government has allocated RM672.05 million under the Green Sustainability component of the SMJ 2.0 Development Plan for biodiversity protection, environmental conservation, and climate change response, with a goal of achieving 30 percent protected areas by 2030.
