Iran Marks 47th Anniversary of Islamic Revolution in New Delhi

The 47th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution and the National Day of the Islamic Republic of Iran was commemorated on Monday evening, February 9, 2026, at an official event in New Delhi.

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): The 47th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution and the National Day of the Islamic Republic of Iran was commemorated on Monday evening, February 9, 2026, at an official event in New Delhi.

The ceremony was attended by Indian government officials, ambassadors and heads of diplomatic missions, business leaders, media representatives, and members of the Iranian community living in India.

Addressing the gathering, Iran’s Ambassador to India, Dr. Mohammad Fathali, highlighted developments in the country over the past 47 years. He said the Islamic Republic of Iran has faced and overcome multiple challenges during this period and continues to pursue progress and development, despite what he described as external pressures and hostile actions.

The guest of honor, Sibi George, Secretary (West) at India’s Ministry of External Affairs, referred to the long-standing relationship between Iran and India and emphasized the importance of expanding bilateral cooperation in various sectors. He underscored the significance of the Chabahar Port project as a key area of collaboration between the two countries.

Drawing on his two years of diplomatic service in Iran, George noted that Iran was among the first countries to establish diplomatic relations with India.

On the sidelines of the event, an exhibition was organized showcasing achievements of the Islamic Republic of Iran in areas including technology, medicine, and pharmaceuticals.
