Cleric from Lucknow Condemns Shia Killing in Islamabad

Shia religious leader and Secretary of Tanzeem-ul-Makatib, Lucknow, Maulana Syed Safi Haider, has issued a statement condemning the suicide attack at a Shia congregational mosque in Islamabad.

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Shia religious leader and Secretary of Tanzeem-ul-Makatib, Lucknow, Maulana Syed Safi Haider, has issued a statement condemning the suicide attack at a Shia congregational mosque in Islamabad.

Statement reads as following:

“Whoever kills a person—unless it be for murder or for spreading corruption on earth—it shall be as though he has killed all of mankind.”

Once again, a heart-wrenching and soul-disturbing tragedy emerging from Islamabad, Pakistan, has left us deeply grieved and restless. Believers had gathered in a Hussainiya to offer Friday prayers when, in the very state of worship, a suicide bomb explosion occurred, leaving a large number of worshippers injured and more than 80 people martyred.

From Quetta to Parachinar, and time and again in different locations—particularly at Shiite religious gatherings—oppressive and cowardly terrorists have continued to target the lovers of the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them) through suicide bombings. This is part of a long and painful history. These so-called terrorist groups, who commit such acts while wearing the guise of Islam, are a cause of disgrace for Islam before the entire world.

They must understand that the nation they are unsuccessfully trying to intimidate through brutal killings is a nation deeply connected to the sacrifices of Karbala—a nation that cannot be frightened, threatened, or erased. The silence of the Government of Pakistan in the face of such aggressive and barbaric acts is deeply concerning and reflects dangerous intentions.

There is absolutely no place for terrorism in Islam. According to the Quran, even the slightest injustice has no justification in Islam. These terrorist attacks are being carried out at the behest of imperial powers with the intent of fueling sectarianism and deepening doctrinal divisions within the Muslim Ummah.

We appeal to justice-loving citizens, compassionate and conscientious compatriots, and the Government of India to come forward to stop this genocide and ensure that the oppressors are brought to their rightful punishment.

We also call upon the entire Muslim world to adopt a firm and uncompromising stance against these so-called terrorists, wherever they may be.
We pray in the Divine Court for patience and great reward for the families of the innocent children, youth, and elderly who were martyred, and we seek their elevated status in the proximity of Imam Hussain (A.S)

In need of prayers.
Humbly,
Syed Safi Haider
Secretary, Tanzeem-ul-Makatib (Lucknow)
