AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Funeral prayers were held on Saturday for the victims of a suicide bombing at the Khadija-tul-Kubra Mosque and Imambargah in Islamabad, an attack that has drawn strong condemnation from religious and political leaders.
The funeral prayers took place at Jamia Al-Sadiq in the G-9/2 sector of the capital and were led by prominent cleric Allama Sheikh Shifa Najafi. A large number of mourners, including religious scholars, political figures, relatives of the victims, and local residents, attended the ceremony amid an atmosphere of deep grief.
Among those present were Senator Allama Raja Nasir Abbas Jafri, Allama Anwar Ali Najafi, Allama Ameen Shaheedi, Allama Hasnain Gardazi, and Allama Ahmed Iqbal Rizvi. Many attendees were visibly emotional as they paid their final respects to the deceased.
Addressing the gathering after the funeral prayers, Senator Raja Nasir Abbas Jafri expressed grave concern over the security situation and strongly condemned the targeting of places of worship. He described the attack as “an act of blatant terrorism and a serious crime against humanity,” emphasizing that those responsible must be held accountable.
“The blood of the martyrs will not go unanswered,” he said, announcing that a peaceful but sustained protest movement would continue until justice is served.
The Inspector General of Islamabad Police was also present at the scene. During his presence, participants raised slogans against terrorism and in favor of peace, demanding the immediate arrest and prosecution of those involved in the attack, including facilitators.
Speakers at the gathering stressed that attempts to divide society through terrorism would never succeed, asserting that the Pakistani nation would remain united in confronting forces that threaten peace and stability.
Following the funeral, attendees expressed condolences to the families of the victims and offered prayers for the swift recovery of those injured in the attack.
The bombing is the latest in a series of militant attacks targeting religious sites in the country, renewing concerns over security and sectarian violence.
