AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Mohammad Nahid Islam, coordinator of Bangladesh’s National Citizens Party (NCP), stated that the only effective way to confront imperial powers seeking dominance over Bangladesh is to strengthen the country’s internal capabilities.
Speaking at the launch of the party’s 36-point manifesto titled “Manifesto of Youth and Dignity” in Dhaka, the capital, he said, “We raise slogans against imperialism, but the real struggle against it passes through building a strong economy and a powerful state. This enhances our national dignity.”
Nahid Islam also emphasized the concept of “dignity,” noting that during years of authoritarian rule, the status of the people was repeatedly undermined. “Ensuring the human, economic, and political rights of citizens and preserving Bangladesh’s dignity on the global stage is our primary goal,” he added.
On foreign policy, he announced that the party will pursue serious diplomatic engagement with India to halt border killings and secure Bangladesh’s fair share of water resources, including from the Teesta River. He warned that if negotiations fail, the matter would be referred to international courts.
