Iran Hajj Pilgrims Urged to Take Pre-Departure Examinations Seriously

The head of Iran’s Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization urged Hajj pilgrims to take pre-departure examinations seriously.

AhlulBayt News Agency: The head of Iran’s Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization urged Hajj pilgrims to take pre-departure examinations seriously.

If physical fitness is not confirmed, the obligation of Hajj will be lifted from the individual, Ali Reza Rashidian noted.

He spoke in an interview with IQNA regarding the latest situation of pilgrims slated to take the Hajj pilgrimage this year.

Referring to efforts to obtain visas, he hoped the organization will be able to receive visas for all 86,700 Iranian pilgrims for Hajj 2026.

Rashidian also noted that during his recent trip to Saudi Arabia, he requested an additional quota of 1,700 Hajj pilgrims for Iran in 2026.

“If approved, we can send more pilgrims from among 800,000 people waiting in line for Hajj,” he stated.

The head of the Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization strongly advised pilgrims who are undergoing pre-departure examinations and determining their physical capacity to take pre-trip examinations and tests seriously.

Financial and physical capacity are among the obligations of Hajj, he noted.

“The rituals of Hajj are considered physically demanding operations, and moving from the Miqat, circumambulating, attending Mashaar and Mina, and other acts require physical strength. Therefore, if doctors conclude that a person does not have the necessary physical capacity to perform Hajj, it means that the Hajj journey carries a life-threatening risk for that person.”

Referring to the fact that the obligation of Hajj is removed from a person who does not have the physical capacity, he said: “Our request is that if a person’s physical capacity is not confirmed, he should not consider this as a deprivation from the Hajj journey and should know that God has removed the obligation of Hajj from him.”

Rashidian went on to say that if a person performs Hajj without having the physical ability, he will face problems during this journey and will inflict hardship and difficulty both on their family and on the members of the caravan.
