UNICEF: Urgent Aid is Vital For Afghanistan Children

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in Afghanistan said that the country is facing a multi - dimensional crisis, and international aid is vital in these circumstances. 

AhlulBayt News Agency: The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in Afghanistan said in a report that the country is facing a multi - dimensional crisis, and international aid is vital in these circumstances. 

In a report UNICEF has emphasised that to provide basic and humanitarian needs of 12 million people, including 6.5 million children in Afghanistan, the organization urgently needs $ 950 million.

UNICEF also said that the aid is vital for survival and prosperity of every child in Afghanistan, and the country's population now faces natural disasters, fragile economies, limited access to basic services and climate disasters.

According to statistics of international organisations, about 22 million, including 11.6 million children, will need humanitarian assistance in 2026.

Earlier, Tajuddin Aivali, the UNICEF representative in Afghanistan, posted on X that 3.5 million children in Afghanistan suffer from acute malnutrition and more than one million people suffer from excessive malnutrition and are at risk of death.

The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) also warned that nearly 5 million Afghan mothers and children are suffering from malnutrition, and the hunger crisis in Afghanistan continues to deepen.
