BEIRUT: In his address to mark Eid al-Adha, senior Shiite cleric Sayyed Mohammad Hussein Fadlallah called for peace and warned against conflicts.
Fadlallah called on all the Lebanese to unite and form a united government that will work for the country’s economic and political stability.
He also voiced a call to all Arabs to let go of sectarian differences and work together to fight Zionist threats. Fadlallah however warned NATO that its alliance with Israel and its increasing hostility toward the Muslim world since the fall of the Soviet Union was making it more vulnerable.
Also, he warned NATO forces against any attempt to declare war in the Middle East, adding that wars such as those in Iraq and Afghanistan would have “devastating results not only in the region but on peace efforts in the world.”
