Hamas urges BRICS to pressure Israel into halting Gaza war

Hamas has called on BRICS to pressure Israel to stop its war in Gaza and comply with international law. BRICS leaders have urged an immediate and unconditional ceasefire, though initial Hamas-Israel negotiations ended without an agreement. Both sides had earlier expressed tentative support for a 60-day ceasefire plan.

AhlulBayt News Agency: The Palestinian resistance movement Hamas has called on the BRICS group to pressure Israel to halt its military operations in the Gaza Strip, urging compliance with international law.

In an official statement, Hamas appealed to BRICS and all global powers to take action in stopping Israeli aggression and ensuring adherence to humanitarian and legal standards.

The statement, cited by TASS, also expressed Hamas’s support for BRICS’ recent call for an immediate ceasefire and full Israeli withdrawal from Gaza.

On July 6, BRICS leaders issued a declaration at their summit in Brazil, urging parties involved in the Gaza conflict to work toward an “immediate, permanent and unconditional ceasefire.”

Previously, on July 2, US President Donald Trump stated that Israel had agreed to a proposed 60-day ceasefire plan for Gaza. Hamas later confirmed on July 4 that it had delivered a positive response to the same plan via mediators.

However, according to Sky News Arabia, the first round of indirect negotiations between Hamas and Israel concluded without reaching an agreement, as reported by Palestinian officials involved in the talks.
