Flights halted at Ben Gurion Airport after Yemeni missile strike

Yemeni Armed Forces launched a hypersonic missile at Ben Gurion Airport, leading Israel to suspend all flights and shut the facility indefinitely. The strike reportedly disrupted air travel and triggered air raid sirens in multiple regions

AhlulBayt News Agency: Israeli aviation authorities have halted all inbound and outbound flights at Ben Gurion International Airport and announced the closure will remain in effect “until further notice,” following a missile strike by Yemeni Armed Forces in retaliation for Israel’s continued war on Gaza.

According to pan-Arab media reports, air raid sirens were activated in various areas around the Dead Sea on Sunday morning, and Israeli-controlled territory was effectively isolated from global air travel after a ballistic missile was launched.

There were no confirmed reports of casualties or structural damage at the time of the incident.

The Israeli military later issued a brief statement saying that its missile defense systems had been activated to intercept the projectile.

This escalation occurred less than a week after the Yemeni military claimed responsibility for an earlier missile launch targeting Ben Gurion airport.

On July 1, in a televised broadcast via al-Masirah TV, Yemeni military spokesperson Brigadier General Yahya Saree announced that a hypersonic ballistic missile, designated as “Palestine-2,” had been launched against Ben Gurion airport.

He claimed that the strike had reached its target, disrupting airport operations and forcing large numbers of Israeli settlers to seek shelter.

Saree added that, in addition to the missile, a coordinated wave of one-way UAVs had struck three strategic locations in Eilat, Tel Aviv, and Ashkelon.
