The trial of Alex W, the man accused of stabbing to death a pregnant Egyptian woman inside a German courtroom, just for wearing a veil, has begun Monday in the city if Dresden. Radical neo-Nazi Alex had been earlier in July called for trial after 32-year-old pharmacist Marwa Sharbini sued him for calling her an ‘Islamic terrorist.” He was fined 780 euros for defamation and now faces charges of murder, attempted murder and dangerous bodily harm. Russian-born Alex somehow broke every security measure before entering the courtroom and managed to smuggle a seven-inch kitchen knife with which he stabbed martyr Sharbini 17 times while her stunned family including her three-year old son watched her bleed to death. Ironically, the martyr’s husband, Ali Okaz, was also stabbed by the murderer and shot by a German police officer as he tried to protect his wife. The officer believed Okaz was the attacker! German authorities were not quick in reacting to such a heinous crime what prompted Muslims to accuse the country of Islamophobia. Egypt has hired attorneys to represent Martyr Sharbini’s family and prosecutors are expected to demand the death penalty in the case. The Egyptian Lawyers Syndicate in Cairo is also expected to participate in the hearings. Hamdi Khalifa, the head of the syndicate, is to present the case in 11 sessions, beginning with five days of witness testimony, he said. Martyr Sharbini’s case was poorly tackled in Arab and Islamic media leaving sympathizers and commentators with a big question mark on the value of the Arab and Muslim individual inside and outside his homeland...and how can such a case be kept low profile in concerned media outlets at a time US, European and Israel media make an uproar for drawing swastikas on some Jewish headstones in Europe.
