AhlulBayt News Agency: On National Journalist Day, Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro awarded the special Simón Bolívar Prize to Sahar Emami and the martyrs of the Israeli attack on the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) building.
During the ceremony, President Maduro honored Sahar Emami, the Iranian anchor who continued broadcasting until the final moments of the Israeli airstrike on IRIB’s news headquarters.
The award was accepted on behalf of Emami and the fallen journalists by Iran’s ambassador to Venezuela, representing the families of those killed in the attack.
In his speech to a large gathering of journalists, Maduro condemned the Israeli and U.S. attacks and praised the resilience of the Iranian people, leadership, and armed forces.
He also called on Jewish communities to oppose Israel’s military actions in the region, stating that “100 people are killed daily in Palestine while the West watches in silence.”
Journalist Helena Salcedo described Maduro’s call for a World Summit for Peace as a bold and necessary initiative.
She added that Venezuela’s sovereign approach to confronting violence should serve as a model for other nations.
