AhlulBayt News Agency: The Commission for Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs and the Palestinian Prisoners Society (PPS) reported on Tuesday that Israeli intelligence has issued over 600 administrative detention orders in the past two weeks, adding to the thousands already issued since the start of the war on Gaza.
In a joint statement, the two organizations highlighted an unprecedented surge in administrative detentions since the onset of the conflict, including the detention of women and children.
As of June, the total number of Palestinians held under administrative detention has reached 3,562, including at least 95 minors under the age of 18.
The groups emphasized that this figure is the highest in history and now surpasses the number of sentenced and pre-trial detainees in Israeli prisons.
They described administrative detention as a long-standing and systematic policy used by Israeli authorities to suppress resistance and target activists across political, social, and cultural sectors.
The statement also revealed that eight administrative detainees have died in Israeli custody since the beginning of the war, out of a total of 72 prisoner deaths during this period.
