AhlulBayt News Agency: The Palestinian Commission of Detainees’ and Ex-Detainees’ Affairs issued a warning on Monday regarding Israel’s continued ban on lawyer visits to Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli jails.
In its statement, the Commission accused the Israeli Prison Service (IPS) of concealing ongoing violations inside detention facilities.
It urged the international community to act swiftly and pressure the Israeli government to allow legal access to Palestinian detainees.
The Commission revealed that around 500 male and female prisoners have been denied scheduled legal visits, calling it a dangerous escalation in Israel’s policy of isolation and repression.
The IPS recently decided to indefinitely suspend lawyer visits, effectively stripping detainees of their right to legal representation.
