Israeli airstrikes kill 60 Palestinians, including aid seekers, across Gaza

Israeli airstrikes in Gaza have killed 60 civilians, including those seeking aid. Palestinian resistance groups accuse US-backed aid centers of attempting to dismantle UNRWA.

AhlulBayt News Agency: Israeli forces have killed nearly 60 Palestinian civilians in the besieged Gaza Strip, including 17 individuals attempting to obtain humanitarian aid amid Israel’s ongoing blockade and military aggression.

According to media reports on Sunday, the latest wave of casualties resulted from Israeli airstrikes in Khan Yunis (south), Jabalia (north), and Nuseirat (central Gaza Strip).

On Al-Bahr Street in northwest Gaza City, at least 15 people were killed and over 100 injured while waiting to receive food aid. Similar Israeli airstrikes targeted aid seekers in Rafah and al-Sudaniya, killing multiple individuals and wounding dozens.

In Rafah’s al-Mawasi area, two civilians were killed and more than 50 wounded when Israeli forces opened fire on starving Palestinians near the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) aid point.

Further attacks occurred in Beit Lahia and al-Tuwam (northern Gaza), where seven additional fatalities were reported. In central Gaza, six Palestinians were killed near Deir al-Balah.

Among those killed was journalist Hassan Majdi Abu Warda, whose home in Jabalia was struck by an airstrike. Another Israeli air raid in Nuseirat resulted in the death of Ashraf Abu Nar, a senior official in Gaza’s civil administration.

The armed wing of Hamas and Islamic Jihad confirmed on Sunday that fighters carried out ambushes and attacks using bombs and anti-tank rockets against Israeli forces in various locations across Gaza.

Meanwhile, the Gaza health ministry reported that at least 274 people have been killed and over 2,000 wounded near aid distribution sites since the US-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) began operations in Gaza.

GHF began distributing food packages at the end of May, implementing an alternative aid model which the United Nations has criticized for being neither impartial nor neutral.

Since the escalation of violence on October 7, 2023, the death toll in Gaza has risen to 55,297, with more than 128,000 people injured.

In a joint statement, Palestinian resistance groups accused the US aid distribution centers in Gaza of aiming to dismantle the UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) and undermine the Palestinian cause.

The statement emphasized that these aid centers are facilitating forced displacement, ethnic cleansing, and the evacuation of Gaza’s residents as part of former US President Donald Trump’s alleged political strategy.

The Palestinian resistance groups called for international pressure on the Israeli regime and US government to ensure that humanitarian aid is resumed through UN-affiliated organizations, particularly UNRWA.

The humanitarian crisis continues to worsen amid Israel’s relentless military campaign in Gaza, with aid restrictions further deepening civilian suffering
