Saudi Arabia distributes over 2.5 million Qurans to pilgrims after Hajj

Over two million copies of the Quran are being distributed to pilgrims as they return home following the annual Hajj pilgrimage.

AhlulBayt News Agency: Over two million copies of the Quran are being distributed to pilgrims as they return home following the annual Hajj pilgrimage.

The Saudi Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance began distributing the Qurans on Sunday, during the second day of Tashreeq, a ritual period following Eid al-Adha. The effort targets pilgrims departing by land, sea, and air.

A total of 2,521,380 copies have been allocated for this year's distribution, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

The Qurans—produced in various sizes and languages—were published by the King Fahd Complex for the Printing of the Holy Quran in Medina.

According to SPA, “These copies are a gift from King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques.” The Qurans are being handed out at key departure points, including King Abdulaziz International Airport, Jeddah Islamic Port, and border crossings.

Hajj is an annual pilgrimage to Mecca that all Muslims who are physically and financially able are required to undertake at least once in their lifetime. The 2025 Hajj recently concluded with the participation of over 1.6 million pilgrims from across the world.

Following the completion of the main Hajj rituals, many pilgrims are now traveling back to their home countries, while others continue their spiritual journey by visiting Medina, where Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is buried.
