AhlulBayt News Agency: Several Lebanese victims of the so-called “pager explosion” met with Grand Shia Marja Ayatollah Ali Sistani on Sunday, following his earlier condemnation of the attack as a "barbaric aggression."
During the meeting, Ayatollah Sistani expressed solidarity with those affected, reinforcing his stance against Israeli actions in Lebanon. A video released by his office showed the cleric gifting a ring to Hussein Zein al-Din, a Lebanese child injured in the incident.
According to Iran Press, the explosion, which took place over two consecutive days in September 2024, involved the manipulation of civilian wireless telecommunications devices for military purposes, leading to widespread casualties. Reports indicate that at least 39 people were killed and around 3,500 injured.
Ayatollah Sistani’s engagement signals potential diplomatic and moral pressure against Israel’s military operations in the region, as calls for accountability and justice grow louder among international observers.
Lebanese officials and humanitarian groups continue to demand an investigation into the attack, emphasizing its devastating impact on civilians and the need for stronger safeguards against such actions.
