UK Conservative leader admits Israel fighting proxy war in Gaza for Britain

Kemi Badenoch, leader of the British Conservative Party, admitted that Israel is fighting a proxy war in Gaza on behalf of the UK. Jeremy Corbyn criticized Britain’s continued arms support for Israel, despite its violations of international law.

AhlulBayt News Agency: Kemi Badenoch, leader of the British Conservative Party, has admitted that Israel is engaged in a proxy war in Gaza on behalf of the UK.

Britain, along with Western allies such as the US and Germany, has been continuously supplying weapons to Israel during its military campaign in Gaza.

London has authorized the Akrotiri air base in Cyprus to assist Israel in targeting various regions of Gaza, while also allowing British citizens to participate as soldiers in the conflict.

Badenoch stated that the UK and other Western nations not only support Israel militarily but also guide and administer its operations, considering the continuation of attacks on Palestinians vital to their national interests.

She added, “Israel is engaged in a proxy war for Britain, just as Ukraine represents Western Europe in the war against Russia.”

According to Badenoch, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s implied threat to limit the UK’s active complicity in the war against Gaza—including deliberate famine tactics—could harm Britain’s national interests.

She further argued that Israel’s war in Gaza is not solely aimed at eliminating Hamas or freeing captives, but rather serves to arm Israel for undermining Iran and its allies, who have resisted Western dominance in the Middle East.

Similarly, Stephane Pollard, former editor-in-chief of Jewish Chronicle, asserted that Israel plays the same strategic role in the Middle East today that Britain envisioned a century ago.

Meanwhile, Jeremy Corbyn, Member of the UK Parliament, criticized Britain’s continued arms support for Israel, despite its violations of international law through civilian bombings in Gaza.

Corbyn stated, “I never thought we would reach a point where people are arrested in European streets simply for holding the Palestinian flag, which is recognized at the UN.”

More than 300 British figures have signed a letter to Prime Minister Keir Starmer, demanding an end to London’s partnership in Israel’s military campaign in Gaza.
