French woman files genocide complaint against Israel over strike that killed grand children in Gaza genocide

A French woman has filed a legal complaint against Israel, accusing it of genocide in Gaza after two of her grandchildren were killed in Israeli airstrikes. French prosecutors have launched a probe into complicity in genocide involving French-Israeli nationals. The ICC has issued arrest warrants for Netanyahu and Gallant over war crimes in Gaza.

AhlulBayt News Agency: A French woman has filed a legal complaint against Israel, accusing the regime of genocide in Gaza, after two of her grandchildren were killed in Israeli airstrikes.

Jacqueline Rivault submitted the complaint to the crimes-against-humanity section of the Court of Paris, her lawyer Arie Alimi confirmed on Friday.

The complaint states that two F-16 missiles fired by the Israeli army killed two children of Rivault’s daughter, who were French nationals, in northern Gaza on October 24, 2023.

According to the 48-page document, Janna, six, and Abderrahim Abudaher, nine, along with their family, had sought refuge in another home between Faluja and Beit Lahia, after fleeing their own residence two days earlier due to intensified Israeli strikes.

One missile entered through the roof, while the second struck directly into the room where the family was sheltering.

Abderrahim was killed instantly, while Janna succumbed to her injuries shortly after being taken to the hospital.

The complaint accuses Israel of genocide, arguing that the airstrike was part of a broader Israeli campaign to eliminate the Palestinian population and subject them to living conditions designed to destroy their group.

Rivault hopes that the French judiciary will determine it has jurisdiction to appoint a magistrate to investigate the case, given the French nationality of her grandchildren.

Although the complaint is formally filed against unnamed parties, reports indicate that it explicitly targets Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli cabinet, and the military.

In a separate case, French anti-terror prosecutors have launched an investigation into complicity in genocide and incitement to genocide, focusing on French-Israeli nationals involved in Israel’s military campaign.

The probe follows a legal complaint filed in November 2024 by the Jewish French Union for Peace (UFJP) and a French-Palestinian victim, accusing individuals of blocking humanitarian aid to Gaza, including physically preventing trucks from passing through Israeli-controlled border checkpoints.

Israel launched its military campaign in Gaza on October 7, 2023, killing at least 54,677 Palestinians, according to the Gaza Health Ministry.

In November 2024, the International Criminal Court’s Pre-Trial Chamber I issued arrest warrants for Netanyahu and former minister of military affairs Yoav Gallant, citing crimes against humanity and war crimes committed between October 8, 2023, and May 20, 2024.

Additionally, Israel faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) for its war on Gaza.
