British scholar David Miller faces private prosecution over pro-Palestine activism

British scholar David Miller faces a private prosecution over his pro-Palestine activism, with Israel accused of silencing critics. Hamas condemns US complicity in Israeli war crimes. Israel has failed to achieve its objectives in Gaza, despite 20 months of conflict and over 54,607 Palestinian deaths.

AhlulBayt News Agency: British scholar David Miller, known for his pro-Palestine activism, has accused Israel of attempting to silence its critics after losing the propaganda war over its military actions in Gaza.

Miller, a producer and co-host of Press TV’s Palestine Declassified, made the remarks in an X post on Wednesday, following a private prosecution launched against him by the Campaign Against Antisemitism (CAA), a pro-Israel NGO.

The CAA has filed three charges against Miller, alleging that he used X to send messages of a menacing character.

Miller responded by claiming that the CAA acts on behalf of Israel, which he described as “a hostile and illegitimate genocidal Jewish supremacist regime.”

“This attempt at a private prosecution is a Strategic Lawsuit Against Public Participation (SLAPP) and an act of desperation by Israel in a propaganda war it has already lost,” he added.

He further accused Israel, via the CAA, of trying to manipulate the criminal justice system to silence critics of Zionism, asserting that such efforts would fail.

The case revolves around three messages Miller posted from November 2024 onwards, all of which concluded with the hashtag “Dismantle Zionism.”

The first hearing is scheduled to take place at Westminster Magistrates’ Court in London on July 2.

Miller previously served as a professor of political sociology at the University of Bristol, but he was dismissed in October 2021 over his pro-Palestine advocacy, a decision later ruled unfair and wrongful.

Global anger against Israel has surged since October 7, 2023, when the occupying regime launched a military campaign in Gaza.

Nearly 20 months into the conflict, Israel has failed to achieve its declared objectives, despite killing at least 54,607 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and injuring 125,341 others.
