AhlulBayt News Agency: The Leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky (H), welcomed 33 individuals who had been released after spending six years in prison since July 22, 2019.
Zakzaky received the group at his residence on Thursday, the 1st of Dhul Hijja 1446 (May 29, 2025).
Among those freed were 29 men and 4 women, who had been detained in Kuje prison. They secured their release on Monday, May 26, 2025, after paying a fine of approximately 4 million Naira, following a court ruling by Judge Sulaiman Belgore.
In his address, Zakzaky reflected on their legal battles, stating, "On several occasions, we were taken to court, and each time, no charges against us were ever proven, nor were we found guilty of unlawful assembly."
He further remarked, "We understand that walking the path of Allah comes with trials and challenges. Those who commit themselves to this path are guilty of nothing except their steadfastness in faith."
Zakzaky emphasized that throughout history, no Prophet was readily accepted by his people without enduring rejection and assassination attempts.
He concluded by offering prayers for the souls of the martyrs and the wounded.
