AhlulBayt News Agency: The Iranian Foreign Ministry has announced that it is actively working to secure the release of Iranian national Gholam-Reza Qassemian, who was detained in Saudi Arabia.
Majid Rezapanah, head of the Foreign Ministry’s Department for Consular and Judicial Affairs, told IRNA on Tuesday that the Iranian Consulate General in Jeddah immediately took action after Qassemian's arrest in the holy city of Medina.
Rezapanah stated that the consulate has formally requested Qassemian’s release, submitting an official note to Saudi authorities. He also confirmed that Iran’s consul general has met with Qassemian twice since his detention and is scheduled for another meeting soon.
Reports of Qassemian’s detention surfaced earlier on Tuesday, with claims that he was arrested after posting a video critical of Saudi authorities.
Iranian Judiciary spokesperson Asghar Jahangir condemned the arrest, calling it “unjustified and illegal.”
The Iranian government continues diplomatic efforts to resolve the case, emphasizing its commitment to protecting the rights of its citizens abroad.
