Iranian Sunni prayer leaders stressed the importance of unity and solidarity during Hajj, urging Muslims to embody its values. Sermons also addressed the Gaza crisis and the anniversary of Khorramshahr’s liberation.

AhlulBayt News Agency: Iranian Sunni prayer leaders have emphasized unity and solidarity as key objectives of the Hajj congregation, calling on Muslims to uphold the values of the annual Islamic pilgrimage.

During their Friday sermons across Iran, the prayer leaders addressed various topics, including the significance of Hajj and the ongoing Israeli military campaign in Gaza.

Akhoond Nasser Mohammad Ghezel, the Friday prayer leader of Maraveh Tappeh in Golestan province, highlighted that Hajj pilgrims wear Ihram to stand as equals, regardless of social status, ethnicity, or complexion. He stressed that the true purpose of Hajj is to focus on God and overcome one’s ego.

He also expressed support for Palestinians in Gaza, stating that foreign powers have weakened Islamic nations by fostering divisions and empowering rulers who prioritize personal interests over the oppressed Muslim communities.

The prayer leader of Incheh Borun reiterated the importance of Islamic unity and dedication to one’s homeland.

Akhoond Madad Houshmand commemorated the anniversary of the 1982 Khorramshahr Liberation, a significant victory in which Iran reclaimed the southern city from Iraqi forces after seven months of occupation.

Akhoond Mohammad Jorjani, the Friday prayer leader of Tatar Olya, also honored the victory of Khorramshahr as a manifestation of divine support for Muslims and a defining moment in Iran’s post-revolution history.

The Friday prayer leader of Aqqala emphasized that the Hajj congregation reflects the grandeur and strength of Islam and the Muslim community.

Akhoond Abdul Hayy Mirza Ali remarked that if Hajj rituals are performed properly, the unity and discipline they instill can help resolve challenges facing the Islamic world.

Finally, the prayer leader of Kerend in Gonbad-e Kavus, Akhoond Ghorban Haghighi, urged Muslims to use their time during Hajj to cultivate love and brotherhood within the Islamic community.
