Thousands protest against new Waqf Law in south India

The protest, called “Save Waqf, Save Constitution,” was held at Islamia College Ground and organized by the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB). Over 10,000 people attended the event.

AhlulBayt News Agency: A massive protest took place on Sunday in Warangal, Telangana, against the new Waqf Amendment Act 2025 introduced by the central government.

The protest, called “Save Waqf, Save Constitution,” was held at Islamia College Ground and organized by the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB). Over 10,000 people attended the event.

Maulana Khalid Saifullah Rahmani, president of AIMPLB, led the protest. Many important leaders also joined, including Telangana Minister Konda Surekha, former MLC Konda Muralidhar Rao, Hyderabad MP and AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi, RJD MP Manoj Jha, Azad Samaj Party leader Chandrashekhar Azad, and MLA Naini Rajender Reddy.

During his speech, Owaisi said, “This law is not in the interest of Muslims. It’s meant to take over Waqf properties. The Waqf Board will not gain anything from it.”

He also questioned, “How can Muslims show old documents for waqf properties that are hundreds of years old? This new law is unfair and was passed just because the government has a majority.”

Several other Muslim scholars and leaders, such as Maulana Mohammed Ahsan Al Hamoomi Nizami Quadri and Dr. Talha Mannan, also spoke during the event, calling the law dangerous and harmful to the Muslim community.
