AhlulBayt News Agency: Israeli settlers attacked Palestinian agricultural lands and set fire to large areas of crops in the town of Duma, south of Nablus in the northern occupied West Bank, at dawn on Sunday.
Suleiman Dawabsha, head of the Duma village council, reported that settlers ignited fires on the southwestern side of the village, causing flames to spread across hundreds of dunums, including olive tree plantations.
Civil defense crews managed to extinguish the fire and bring the blaze under control, preventing further destruction.
Dawabsha emphasized that the greatest threat facing Duma is the expansion of settler outposts, which are spreading like cancer and devouring village lands. He noted that Duma frequently suffers from settler attacks and assaults on residents and their property.
Earlier on Saturday, settlers also burned agricultural crops in the Sebastia-Ramin plain, northwest of Nablus. Mohammad Azem, mayor of Sebastia, stated that settlers set fire to crops in the Sebastia–Burqa–Ramin plain, while Israeli occupation forces blocked firefighters and residents from reaching the area.
According to the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission, settlers carried out 341 attacks against Palestinians and their properties in the West Bank during April 2024, and attempted to establish 10 new settlement outposts.
Israeli settlement violations in the West Bank led to the displacement of 29 Palestinian communities, comprising 311 families with approximately 2,000 individuals, between October 7, 2023, and the end of 2024.
Alongside the ongoing genocide in Gaza, the Israeli army and settlers have intensified their attacks in the West Bank, including occupied East Jerusalem. This has resulted in the killing of at least 967 Palestinians, the injury of around 7,000, and the arrest of over 17,000, according to Palestinian sources.
