AhlulBayt News Agency: Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf has urged Muslims to strengthen unity and amplify the voice of the oppressed Palestinian people in Gaza, who continue to suffer under Israeli aggression.
Speaking after Friday prayers at the Istiqlal Mosque in Jakarta, Indonesia, Qalibaf attended the 19th high-level parliamentary meeting of the Parliamentary Union of the Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (PUIC).
He emphasized that standing together in unity is an Islamic duty and warned against allowing global powers to perpetuate what he described as the largest genocide in history.
Qalibaf stressed that the people of Gaza—including children, women, and patients—expect solidarity and support from the Muslim world. He urged Muslims to be their voice and not abandon them in these difficult times.
Israel launched its war on Gaza on October 7, 2023, but has failed to achieve its declared objectives despite killing at least 53,010 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and injuring more than 119,998 others.
The regime initially accepted longstanding negotiation terms proposed by Hamas under a Gaza ceasefire, which began on January 19. However, Israel violated the truce on March 2, cutting off humanitarian aid to Gaza. Just over two weeks later, it resumed relentless bombing and redeployed troops to the besieged territory.
Qalibaf condemned Israel for blocking medical supplies from reaching patients in Gaza, where children fear death not only from airstrikes but also from hunger, lack of water, and famine.
He recalled the words of the late founder of the Islamic Republic, Imam Khomeini, who called for resistance against Israel, describing it as a "cancerous tumor."
Qalibaf reaffirmed Iran’s unwavering support for the Palestinian people, stating that despite external pressure and threats, Iran will never abandon its commitment to their cause.
