Taliban removed 33 Shia professors from Bamyan University

According to credible reports, the Taliban have launched a new campaign to remove Shia-affiliated professors from Bamyan University in the Shia-majority province of Bamyan, Afghanistan.

AhlulBayt News Agency: Experts say this is a deliberate attempt to systematically eliminate scientific and religious Shia intellectuals from the country.

According to a report by the AhlulBayt (a) International News Agency, local sources have confirmed that at least 33 Shia professors have recently been dismissed from Bamyan University.

These professors belonged to various departments such as agriculture, social sciences, geology, education, and natural sciences, and many of them held master’s and PhD degrees.

This is the second major wave of structural dismissals of Shia professors from this university. In recent years, over 53 professors were either forced to resign or were directly dismissed.

Students have confirmed that the Taliban have replaced these qualified professors with individuals aligned with their own ideology. These replacements are not focused on academic teaching, but instead promote extremist propaganda, suppress dissent, and justify the Taliban’s ideology.

Higher education experts in Afghanistan have warned that this is not only a clear act of religious discrimination but also threatens to collapse the country’s academic structure and public trust.

Bamyan, once a symbol of coexistence and learning in Afghanistan, has now turned into a site of targeted elimination of Shia intellectuals.
