AhlulBayt News Agency: The Dar-ol-Quran Center, under the custodianship of Imam Hussein (AS) holy shrine, has announced the commencement of the second round in the preliminary stage of the fourth Karbala International Quran Award.
According to Wassam Nadir al-Delfi, head of the center’s media office, the second round has begun with the presence of a specialized panel of judges in Karbala, assessing the performances of the qualified participants.
At this stage, 37 reciters out of the initial 156 contestants have advanced, having demonstrated outstanding Quranic recitation skills in the preliminary round.
The competition saw a total of 468 participants from more than 50 Arab and non-Arab countries submitting their audio files for evaluation in the recitation category.
Al-Delfi emphasized that the contest has evolved into a prominent international platform for identifying Quranic talents, nurturing individuals who will serve as distinguished representatives of Iraq and the broader Islamic world in Quranic circles worldwide.
He further noted that the competition aligns with the broader Quranic project of the Astan, aimed at integrating Quranic culture into society and fostering young talents in the field.
The judging panel, comprised of six Quran experts, meticulously evaluates contenders based on their adherence to the rules of Sawt, Lahn, Quranic Maqamats, and Tajweed, ensuring the highest standards in Quranic recitation.
The final round of the fourth Karbala International Quran Award is set to take place in person in Karbala, coinciding with the celebrations of Eid al-Ghadir in mid-June.
