AhlulBayt News Agency: UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has condemned Israel’s continued military actions in Syria, denouncing them as a violation of the country’s sovereignty.
During a press briefing, UN spokesperson Stephane Dujarric stated that Guterres is closely monitoring the rising tensions in Damascus and expressed deep concern over violence against civilians and actions that fuel sectarian unrest.
“In this context, he also condemns Israel’s breach of Syria’s sovereignty, including the recent airstrike near the presidential palace in Damascus. It is imperative for these attacks to cease and for Israel to respect Syria’s sovereignty, unity, territorial integrity, and independence,” Dujarric said, as reported by Anadolu Agency.
Guterres further emphasized the urgent need for a credible, structured, and inclusive political transition in Syria, aligning with the principles outlined in UN Security Council Resolution 2254 (2015).
