AhlulBayt News Agency: United Nations Special Envoy for Syria, Geir Pedersen, has urged Israel to immediately halt its military operations against Syria.
In a statement posted on X on Saturday, Pedersen condemned Israel’s escalating violations of Syrian sovereignty, citing repeated airstrikes on Damascus and other cities.
He called on Israeli authorities to cease their attacks and refrain from actions that put civilian lives at risk.
Pedersen also stressed the importance of Israel’s adherence to international law, insisting that Syria’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and independence must be respected.
On Friday night, Israel conducted approximately 20 airstrikes on Syrian territory. Israeli officials claimed the strikes were intended to protect the Druze minority amid rising sectarian violence in the country.
According to a war monitor, recent clashes between Druze fighters and militants allied with Syria’s new ruling authorities have resulted in 119 deaths.
