AhlulBayt News Agency: Rear Admiral Alireza Tangsiri, Commander of the IRGC Navy, reaffirmed Iran's dedication to fostering regional peace, emphasizing that the security of the Persian Gulf should be safeguarded by its neighboring states.
According to IRNA, during a ceremony held on Tuesday in honor of Persian Gulf Day (April 30, corresponding to the 10th of Ordibehesht), Rear Admiral Tangsiri warned that the presence of foreign forces in the region poses a significant security risk. He advocated for cooperation among regional countries without the intervention of external powers.
Highlighting Iran's role, Tangsiri stated that adversaries aim to destabilize the region to boost arms sales, but Iran has consistently acted as the protector of the Persian Gulf’s security. “Achieving these malicious goals involves inciting hostility within the region,” he remarked, adding that those coming from far-off lands do not prioritize the region's stability.
He also underscored the economic importance of the Persian Gulf, noting that it accounts for the export of 62% of the region’s oil and 40% of its gas.
The commander further emphasized the secure management of the Strait of Hormuz, reporting that over 80 ships navigate this critical international waterway daily under Iran's watchful oversight.
