AhlulBayt News Agency: Former US Deputy Secretary of State for South Asia, Robin Raphael, has expressed support for Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's proposal to conduct an impartial investigation into the recent Pahalgam attack, emphasizing the need for independent experts to lead the inquiry.
Speaking with senior journalist Hamid Mir at Harvard University, Raphael highlighted that Pakistan's offer for an impartial investigation is a positive development. She stressed that it is highly inappropriate to assign blame to any party just moments after the incident.
The former US official further underscored the importance of the international community taking an active role in easing the escalating tensions between Pakistan and India following the attack.
China backs Pakistan's call for independent probe
In a related development, China has also voiced support for Pakistan's call for an independent investigation into the recent attack in Kashmir.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, in a phone conversation with Pakistan's Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, conveyed China's close attention to the situation following the Pahalgam incident. He expressed China’s backing for Pakistan's request for an independent probe into the matter.
