Ahlulbayt News Agency: A four-day calligraphy exhibition is currently underway at the Allama Saljuqi Hall in Herat, celebrating the artistic achievements of master calligrapher Najibullah Anwari.
Organized by the Herat Calligraphers' Association in collaboration with the province’s Department of Information and Culture, the exhibition showcases dozens of Anwari’s works. He is widely recognized for his works of Quranic calligraphy and contributions to mosque architecture across Afghanistan.
“In this exhibition, 65 artworks, including two by Ustad Anwari, written in Nastaliq, Shekasteh, Thuluth, and Kufic scripts, are on display,” said Abdul Jalil Tawana, head of the Herat Calligraphers’ Association. He added that the event marks the first formal tribute to Anwari’s artistic legacy.
Born in 1969 in the historic Iraq Bazaar district of Herat, Anwari is the son of the late Nasrullah Khan, a respected teacher and community elder. His calligraphy adorns numerous religious and cultural sites across Afghanistan.
Anwari has also written over 300 notable calligraphic pieces and contributed to public artworks and educational efforts for more than three decades.
His work has been exhibited in cities across Afghanistan and internationally, including Iran, Pakistan, Germany, and Canada.
Among his most distinguished achievements is the publication of Talawat-e-Ney, a collection of his works that has earned acclaim both domestically and abroad.
