AhlulBayt News Agency: The people of the holy city of Karbala celebrated the anniversary of the tragic demolition of the graves of the imams of Baqi(peace be upon them), in cooperation with the holy shrines of Imam al-Hussayn and al-Abbas (peace be upon them).
The event was held for the third year in a row, in coordination with the Department of Hussayni Rituals, Processions and Bodies, and with the participation of representatives of processions, parties, classes and hussayni bodies from inside and outside Karbala.
The condolence paragraphs began with a unified condolence March that started from the Bab al-Khan area, towards the Qibla gate of the shrine of Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas(peace be upon him), followed by raising the banner of the imams of Baqi(peace be upon them) in the square of the Qibla gate of the shrine of Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas(peace be upon him), and then a speech by the general secretariats of the holy shrines of Imam al-Hussayn and al-Abbas (peace be upon them), delivered by Mr. Adnan Gelokhan al-Mousawi from the Religious Affairs Department at the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine, followed by a speech by the people of Karbala delivered by the sponsor of condolence of people of Bab al-Khan; Sheikh Abdul Ali Al-Humairi.
Dr. Afdhal al-Shami, a member of the board of Directors of the Al-Abbas's(p) holy shrine, said that "the people of Karbala, for the third year in a row, are commemorating the sad anniversary of the demolition of the graves of the holy imams (peace be upon them) in Baqi, through a unified condolences procession, renewing their demand for the need to rebuild those honorable scenes.
He added that" this condolence represents a pause expressing condemnation of what was done against the holy imams(peace be upon them), and renewed the call for the construction of honorable graves befitting their great status with Allah Almighty and in the hearts of believers, "pointing out that"the demolition of those graves is a blatant attack on the symbols of Islam and the shrines of the Ahl al-Bayt(peace be upon them), an act that is not commensurate with their lofty status, which should be respected and preserved as is known to the entire Islamic nation."
For his part, the sponsor of the condolences procession of the Baqi cemetery; Sayed Laith Hamad al-Kashwan, explained that " the procession starts annually from one of the parties of the holy city of Karbala to offer condolences on this sad anniversary, and renew the demand for the reconstruction of the graves of the imams of Baqi(peace be upon them)," pointing out that "the demands of the people of Karbala in this regard will be handed over to the Saudi Embassy in Iraq through official authorities, stressing the need for the reconstruction of these honorable shrines."
The event concluded by heading to the shrine of Imam al-Hussayn(peace be upon him) passing through the Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas's (peace be upon him) courtyard, where Husseini condolence council was held.
