Holy Mecca received record of pilgrims more than 4 million on a single day during Ramadan month

The Grand Mosque in Mecca, Islam’s holiest site, welcomed more than 4 million worshippers and pilgrims on a single day during the holy month of Ramadan.

AhlulBayt News Agency: The Grand Mosque in Mecca, Islam’s holiest site, welcomed more than 4 million worshippers and pilgrims on a single day during the holy month of Ramadan.

According to the General Authority for Care of Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques, around 3.4 million worshippers gathered for prayers at the mosque on the 26th day of Ramadan, along with an additional 800,000 pilgrims. The figures were shared by the authority's CEO, Ghazi Al Shahrani.

A breakdown of the attendance showed approximately 703,000 people attended the Fajr (dawn) prayer, 614,300 for the Dhuhr (noon) prayer, 643,900 for the Asr (afternoon) prayer, and 740,100 worshippers each for the Maghreb (sunset) and Isha (night) prayers.

Ramadan, expected to conclude on Saturday, is traditionally observed with heightened religious devotion. Large numbers of Muslims from Saudi Arabia and abroad visit the Grand Mosque during this period for prayers and to perform Umrah, the minor pilgrimage.

Saudi authorities have implemented measures to manage the influx of visitors, including the designation of specific gates for pilgrims. Efforts to ensure safety and comfort have been heightened as the number of visitors rises, particularly during the last days of Ramadan.
