Itikaf at Grand Mosque in Mecca and Prophet’s Mosque in Medina will start on Wednesday

Saudi Arabia’s General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque has announced that registration for itikaf at the two sacred sites will open on Wednesday, March 5.

AhlulBayt News Agency: Saudi Arabia’s General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque has announced that registration for itikaf at the two sacred sites will open on Wednesday, March 5.

Worshippers seeking to observe the spiritual retreat during the last ten days of Ramadan can apply online through the authority’s official website, with registration beginning at 11:00 AM local time, Saudi Gazette reported on Sunday.

The authority stated that registration will close once the allocated slots are filled.

Itikaf at the Grand Mosque in Mecca and the Prophet’s Mosque in Medina will commence on the 20th of Ramadan (March 20) and continue until the end of the holy month.

Approved applicants will receive official permits through the website, subject to specific criteria and conditions set by the authority.

Itikaf is an Islamic practice in which worshippers dedicate themselves to prayer, recitation of the Quran, and spiritual reflection within a mosque.

Traditionally observed in the final ten days of Ramadan, the ritual follows the example of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and is regarded as a means of deepening one’s connection with God.

Ramadan, the holiest month in Islam, began in Saudi Arabia on March 1 this year.
