AhlulBayt News Agency: A comprehensive set of guidelines has been issued to ensure the safety, security, and comfort of worshippers performing their Umrah rituals in Mecca.
Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Interior has issued the guidelines as millions of pilgrims begin to converge on the Grand Mosque for the peak Umrah season during the holy month of Ramadan.
The guidelines, announced on Sunday, aim to streamline access to the Grand Mosque and preserve the sanctity of the holy site amid the surge in pilgrim numbers during Ramadan month.
Authorities emphasized that the new measures are part of ongoing efforts to facilitate a smooth and spiritually focused experience for all visitors.
Among the key regulations is a ban on bringing weapons or sharp tools of any kind into the Grand Mosque or its courtyards.
The ministry also banned the collection of donations, the entry of motorcycles and bicycles into the central Haram area, and any activities that may disrupt the spiritual atmosphere—such as smoking, begging, and unauthorized selling within the mosque premises.
Worshippers are also urged not to bring personal luggage or leave belongings in the courtyards or near the mosque’s windows.
Hanging bags or data-x-items from mosque windows has also been prohibited. In an effort to preserve the serenity of key rituals, the ministry discouraged any actions that might disturb others during Tawaf (circumambulation), Sa’i (walking between Safa and Marwah), or prayer.
In addition to behavioral guidelines, the ministry has provided logistical instructions for pilgrims traveling to the Grand Mosque.
Access routes for those arriving via public transport, including the Haramain High-Speed Railway, shuttle buses, taxis, and private vehicles, are clearly outlined.
Updated details regarding designated parking areas within and outside Mecca are also part of the guidance.
To support navigation and ease of movement, digital signs have been installed at entrances and throughout the mosque’s courtyards, indicating available Tawaf areas and routes leading to them.
The guidelines also include safety tips and precautionary advice to help pilgrims perform their rituals with peace of mind.
The ministry encouraged all visitors to review the full set of instructions online before their visit.
