AhlulBayt News Agency: Sheikh Abdul Rahman al-Dala, head of the Center for Research and Studies on Islamic Unity in Syria, was reportedly assassinated by the terrorist forces affiliated with Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS).
The Sunni cleric had earlier condemned the transitional administration’s ethnic cleansing of Syria’s Alawites, Iraq's al-Ahd news channel reported.
People in Western Syria, including those in the cities of Latakia and Tartus, have held rallies since Thursday in protest at the new rulers’ crackdown on Alawites, Christians, and Deruze.
More than 147 people have reportedly been killed and dozens wounded in Syria due to heavy fighting between the ruling HTS militants and protesters in the west of the country, according to the so-called Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR).
Meanwhile, the Human Rights Network told Al-Arabi TV that armed individuals loyal to Bashar al-Assad killed 100 security forces of the HTS administration, and more than 120 Syrian citizens were killed by the security forces in the suburbs of Latakia, Tartus, and Hama.
It said the transitional administration’s security forces have carried out extensive field executions in Latakia and Tartus.
The Al-Arabiya network reported today, Saturday, citing local sources, that severe clashes are ongoing between the security forces of the interim administration and the ‘Coastal Shield’ forces near Ibn Sina Hospital in Latakia amid the Syrian crisis.
According to the report from this television network, the Coastal Shield forces have launched a wide-ranging attack against the HTS militants in Latakia.
According to Al Jazeera, there have been intermittent clashes between the security forces of the interim government and individuals referred to as remnants of the Assad government in the al-Ghab Plain area in the western outskirts of Hama, north of Damascus.
The network also reported hearing sounds of conflict in the al-Bukamal region, which borders Iraq.
