AhlulBayt News Agency: An advisor to the UN secretary general, speaking at the Political Forum of Antalya, Turkey, considered the US as the cause of wars in West Asia and said, "The Syrian war began with the order of then (former) American president."
Jeffrey Sachs, economist, political analyst and professor of Colombia University, castigating the US during the 4th round of Antalya Diplomacy Forum on Saturday (April 12) said, "The American warmongering has prevented materialization of peace in the region and the region has been manipulated by the Western powers since the Treaty of Versailles over a hundred years ago."
Sachs called the US as the engine of wars in the region and added, "As long as real diplomacy is not carried out in the region and the CIA operation does not end, peace will not be settled in the region."
He made it clear, "The US government and its ally, Israel, are responsible for many crises and wars in the region and their measures are deliberate."
This analyst continued, "If the US recognizes Palestine, these wars may end." Sachs raised these critiques while the Israeli regime has massacred over 50 thousand people, during the 18-month war in Gaza, half of which are women and children.
Sachs noted, "The United States supports the Israeli war against Gaza militarily and in the sea and administers intelligence operation. What happens in today's genocide in Gaza is all done with the complicity of Washington."
Jeffrey Sachs, referring to the Syrian crisis and the American intervention in it, explained, "The Syrian war (in 2011) began with the direct order of Barack Obama (former US President)."
This professor of Colombia University stated, "Anyone who thinks that the US will materialize the interests of Arab countries or Turkey or Iran is in fancy. Empires divide to rule."
The UN advisor said in the end of his speech that the region should shape its fate without foreign meddling and stressed that real solutions will work only when the divisive policies of imperialist forces, which have been there since the past century, are abandoned.
