Arab-Islamic ministerial committee deplores renewed Israeli war on Gaza

The Ministerial Committee assigned by the Joint Arab-Islamic Extraordinary Summit has expressed concern over the renewed Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip, emphasizing the need to advance to the second phase of the ceasefire agreement in line with U.N. Security Council Resolution 2735.

AhlulBayt News Agency: The Ministerial Committee assigned by the Joint Arab-Islamic Extraordinary Summit has expressed concern over the renewed Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip, emphasizing the need to advance to the second phase of the ceasefire agreement in line with U.N. Security Council Resolution 2735.

The committee issued a joint statement on Sunday following a meeting in Cairo, where the situation in Gaza and the Arab-Islamic States' plan for its reconstruction were discussed.

The meeting was attended by foreign ministers from Jordan, Palestine, Qatar, Egypt, Turkey, Indonesia, Bahrain, and the United Arab Emirates, alongside the secretaries-general of the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas also held a meeting with the committee members.

While underlining the urgency of addressing the latest developments in Palestine, the participants expressed “deep concern” over the collapse of the ceasefire and increasing number of civilian casualties in Israel’s renewed aggression against Gaza.

They deplored “the targeting of civilians and civilian infrastructure,” urging an immediate return to the full implementation of the ceasefire agreement, including the release of prisoners from both sides.

The committee also called on the Israeli regime to lift all restrictions on humanitarian aid and to quickly restore basic services, including electricity supply and expressed full support for the Gaza reconstruction plan that was presented at an emergency Arab Summit on March 4 and was endorsed by the OIC and welcomed by the European Council.

The March summit was held in response to an outrageous proposal by U.S. President Donald Trump to take over Gaza and displace its Palestinian inhabitants to develop it into what he called “the Riviera of the Middle East.”

The Arab-Islamic Ministerial Committee on Sunday, however, emphasized that the Palestinian people must remain in their land and strongly opposed any forced transfer or expulsion of Palestinians from Gaza, the West Bank and al-Quds, and warned of the dangerous consequences of such measures.

The members, while deploring Israel’s attacks, illegal settlements, the demolition of Palestinian homes and the violence of settlers, emphasized the unity and integrity of the Palestinian territories and called for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, with East al-Quds as its capital.

Israeli has conducted a number of attacks on Gaza since Tuesday, killing more than 700 Palestinians, injuring over 1,000 others, and shattering a ceasefire agreement that took effect in January.

More than 50,000 Palestinians have been killed, mostly women and children, since the regime launched its genocidal war on Gaza in October 2023.
