AhlulBayt News Agency: Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei has vehemently condemned the renewed Israeli aggression against Lebanon, warning about its repercussions on international peace and security.
Baqaei made the reaction on Sunday night after the latest Israeli attacks on Lebanon hit multiple locations in the east and south of the country a day earlier, leaving at least six people dead and around 30 others wounded.
He described the repeated Israeli strikes against Lebanon and Syria, occurring alongside the intensification of the genocide in the Gaza Strip and the occupied West Bank, as a significant threat against international peace and security.
The spokesperson further said that Israel had already violated its ceasefire agreement with Lebanon in the past month, and the regime’s intensified attacks over the past three days are a clear sign of its lawlessness and disregard for international legal principles and norms.
He called on the international community, particularly the United Nations Security Council, as well as the countries that guarantee the ceasefire in Lebanon, to take immediate and effective action to halt the Israeli aggression.
Baqaei extended condolences to the Lebanese people and government over the deaths of several people in the latest Israeli attacks. He also expressed sympathy with the families of the victims, and wished a speedy recovery for the injured.
The ceasefire deal in Lebanon took effect on November 27 last year, ending months of clashes between Israel and the Hezbollah resistance movement. The regime however has kept violating the truce and continued to maintain a military presence at five locations in south of Lebanon in breach of the deal.
