Khatm Quran sessions to be held in 16 Iraqi governorates during Ramadan

Khatm Quran sessions are planned to be held in 16 governorates of Iraq during the upcoming holy month of Ramadan.

AhlulBayt News Agency: Khatm Quran sessions are planned to be held in 16 governorates of Iraq during the upcoming holy month of Ramadan.

Khatm Quran refers to reading the Holy Quran from the beginning to the end.

The Astan (custodianship) of Imam Hussein (AS) holy shrine will organize the sessions at the holy shrine in Karbala and in the branches of the Astan’s Dar-ol-Quran Center’s branches in 16 governorates.

Muhammad Ali Rabiei, an official with the center said the goal of this program is to create a spiritual and worshipful atmosphere during the days and nights of Ramadan throughout Iraq.

He said the central Khatm Quran session during Ramadan takes place at the Husseini Shrine every day at 2:30 PM local time throughout the blessed month.

Additionally, he said, there will be a special Quran recitation for women held at the shrine during this month.

Ramadan is the ninth and most sacred month of the Islamic calendar, in which Muslims commemorate the revelation of the Quran to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

During Ramadan, Muslims fast from dawn to sunset, refraining from eating, drinking, smoking and sexual relations.

They also devote more time to prayer, charity and good deeds, seeking to strengthen their faith and purify their souls.

One of the practices of Ramadan is to recite and study the Quran with some Muslims completing the reading of the entire Quran during the month.
