AhlulBayt News Agency: Maulana Kalbe Jawad, a senior Shia cleric in India, has strongly criticized the bill introduced with the intent of government intervention in the Waqf Board. He described it as a "snake's den" and expressed serious concerns over its implications.
While speaking at the Dargah Hazrat Abbas in Lucknow on the occasion of Hazrat Abbas's birth anniversary, Kalbe Jawad said that the Government Panel Committee (GPC) is a deception. He claimed that the government has misled Muslims through this committee because it holds a majority in it, allowing it to pass any decision at will.
He further stated, "I had previously warned that the government would pass any bill using its majority and later claim that it was approved democratically. Today, we are witnessing the same. But this is dishonesty and deception."
Condemning the bill, he said, "This bill is a fraud. It grants all powers to the District Magistrate (DM). The DM will decide who will be appointed as the mutawalli (caretaker), and the DM will also determine which properties fall under Waqf and which do not."
He further highlighted a major concern, saying, "If we are dissatisfied with the DM's decision, we do not even have the right to approach any court. To go to court, we would need permission from the DM. And would any DM ever allow a case to be filed against him?"
Explaining the changes made in the new bill, he said, "We had accepted the previous bill because it included two of our scholars. But now, in the new bill, they have been replaced by two Hindus."
He further argued, "If Hindus can be included in the Waqf Board, then two Muslims should also be included in the Ram Temple Trust in Ayodhya."
Maulana Kalbe Jawad emphasized, "Waqf is our religious matter, and the DM has no right to interfere in it. We will not accept government intervention in our religious affairs."
Warning radical Hindus, he said, "There is no need to be overly pleased with this bill. Right now, Muslims have been made scapegoats, but next, it will be your turn. The government has its eyes on the gold reserves stored in Hindu temples. Tomorrow, they may seize control of it as well."
Finally, he stated, "If the government attempts to implement this bill, a nationwide protest will be launched against it."
