Iran President condoles Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Muhammad Saeed Hakim’s demise

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): In a message of condolences over the demise of Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Muhammad Saeed Hakim, President wrote, “He, who shone as one of the pillars of jurisprudence and marja in Iraq, spent his honourable life promoting Islam and the Ahl al-Bayt school".

Ayatollah Dr Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi’s message is as follows:

In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful

The passing of Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Muhammad Saeed Hakim caused great grief and sorrow. He, who shone as one of the pillars of jurisprudence and marja in Iraq, spent his honourable life promoting Islam and the Ahl al-Bayt school. The struggle of that religious authority in defence of the rights of the Iraqi people, which led to his years of captivity in the prisons of Saddam's Ba'athist regime, shines in the history of the Iraqi people's struggle as a convincing proof of the constant presence of Islamic scholars.

Undoubtedly, the late Ayatollah Sayyid Muhammad Saeed Hakim, along with other members of the great Hakim family, played an irreplaceable and significant role in supporting the Iraqi people, achieving their freedom and independence, and their unwavering support for the sovereignty of the people over their own destiny and unity in the new Iraq. Undoubtedly, the absence of this is a great scholar is a great loss to the seminaries of the Islamic world, especially the seminary of Najaf.

I offer my condolences on the passing of this great Shiite scholar and jurist to Imam Mahdi (AS), seminaries, maraji, especially Grand Ayatollah Sistani, the Iraqi people and the Hakim family.

Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi

President of the Islamic Republic of Iran
