AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Speaking in a meeting with the managers of the economic sectors of Astan Quds Razavi, which was held in the Vilayat auditorium of the holy shrine, Hoj. Ahmad Marvi said: “AQR should be a pioneer, in the sense that it ought to take risks in producing important products for the country and support the private sector.”
Hoj. Ahmad Marvi stressed that this establishment is not seeking business profit in any way and its first priority in the economic field is meeting the needs of the country and the people and earning profit is at the next stage.
“The private sector normally is risk-averted and has an economic outlook, but we must consider the interests of the people and the country and take risks in areas that benefit the society,” he noted.
Stating that AQR is no rival to the private sector, he said, “Let’s show the private sector that AQR is not its rival but at the same time we have to support small businesses. We must show our support and transfer our experience and knowledge to manufacturers and try to provide raw materials and sales market for their products.”
Hoj. Marvi introduced consuming domestic goods in order to support production as a strategy for all AQR sections except in cases where domestic products do not exist or do not meet the demands.
He added that for AQR, helping production has a higher priority than gaining profits and economic benefits and he called it their duty to provide serious support to knowledge-based companies that quench the needs of the people and guarantee the country’s independence.
“AQR should be an elite and educated youth club. We have very good bases in agriculture, industry and pharmaceuticals and we should provide the ground for research and executive work of talented youths. Research and practice have to be realized alongside each other here.”
Addressing the managers of companies affiliated to the AQR, he said: “We must provide a platform for training expert, religious, revolutionary as well as risk-taking manpower with new ideas in our knowledge-based companies and innovative units.”
Elsewhere, referring to the naming of the year 2020 as “production leap” by the Leader of Islamic Revolution, he underscored its difference with “production boom” as the difference between “motion” and “speed” which means current and conventional practices have not been satisfactory, and change must be made in the current attitude with a redoubled effort to make the production leap.
He introduced the leap of production in three areas of “quantity,” “quality” and “diversity”, saying: “In order to realize the production leap quantitatively, the existing capacities should be used in a desirable way in the processing of high value-added products and you must use advanced technologies and the capacity of knowledge-based companies to make both quantitative and qualitative leap in production.”
He went on to say: “Although the executive branch is responsible for the heavy burden of “production leap”, the realization of this important issue needs the attention of the legislature and the support of the judiciary branches.”
Hoj. Marvi further pointed out that the administrative bureaucracy is a major obstacle to production, and sometimes administrative restrictions to issue the permits hinder domestic production.
He cited the issue of smuggling as another serious obstacle, fighting against which should become a public demand, and that senior officials in all three branches should take it seriously.
Pointing to excessive imports as another bad factor, he commented: “Some people have made a fortune by excessive imports, and they cannot easily ignore their astronomical profits and admit domestic production. The national interests and the progress require confronting this problem and the likeness of fine quality goods produced in the country must not have the permit to be imported.”
Elsewhere in his speech, he remarked on liquidity saying if it is directed to production, it will lead to economic growth and development, and if it is used in unproductive, brokerage work, it will cause inflation and economic corruption. “The government, by imposing heavy taxes on intermediation and brokerage can take measures to make it not cost-effective.”
Pointing to the dignity and importance of work and endeavor in the Islamic point of view, Hoj. Marvi stated: “One of the most important issues that the holy religion of Islam emphasizes is endeavor and economic activity to earn a living. The Holy Prophet (pbuh) in a narration equates a person who works in the economic field with a Mujahid in the path of God.
“Economic and industrial activities are very valuable from the perspective of Islam and spirituality, and we should not look at these activities only from a material standpoint. The Holy Quran says ‘Infidels should never dominate Muslims’ and this dominance can be political, military, or economic.”
In the end, the AQR chief custodian pointed to economy as one of the most important areas in realization of independence and dignity for the society, because a society can have political independence which is economically independent.
In the course of the meeting, the selected AQR managers in manufacturing and innovation sectors of AQR Economic Organization in 2019 were acknowledged.
